When power tries to silence a people, they dance. Trinidad. New Orleans. Guadeloupe. For centuries, Carnival was the one space oppression could not control. The mask. The drum. The body in motion. Acts of resistance. That spirit lives in this music.
This is not the time to stay silent. It is the time to speak—each in their own way, each with their own tools. For me, it’s the tenor saxophone. And the voice of a trio: sax, bass, drums. Three voices that take turns, answer each other, never drown each other out.
“Resistance” is available now on all platforms. The full album, Resistance, will be released on August 28, 2026, on Quai Son Records.
